Poor boats
We chartered in Vavau. We found the boat to be lacking, as it was older - 5 years - and was not kept up well. Apparently management at Moorings did not spend a lot of time here or else they would have demanded changes. Everything was scratched or stained, the sails were ragged. We looked around the dock, and our boat was not the only one in poor condition. Given the price we paid, we were not happy with value for money. Will not go with Moorings again.

For the adventurous sailor
Their base is a 2 hour ferry ride from Mahe, and we took the boat from Praslin and dropped it off Mahe, making for a good one-way trip. We explored the outer islands in a new French Catamaran (they have a bunch of nice ones from the big charter builders), they also have a few monos and South African cats as well.
Their boats are quite new and well maintained, but the highlight here is the region. The archipelago is basically a big marine sanctuary, with beautiful island coves, unspoiled beaches and good diving opportunities.
Like most of the places I have been, the locals are not exactly service oriented and seemed largely indifferent. The government is corrupt and inept, so the infrastructure is underdeveloped and the markets have little produce. Not exactly a tourist trap, but great for the adventurer.

Beautiful sailing
Sunsail is based in Mahe, the capital of the Country at a marina a couple of miles from the airport. Boats were good, I always use Sunsail (I had a boat with them in the past and have used them in the BVI, Thailand and the Med) and was not disappointed here. We took a 40’ mono (I think it was a Beneteau) and aside from a few dings in the gelcoat and a bit of wear on the chart table, had no problems.
We went to the islands of Praslin, which were great for diving (the tortoises are real cool). I recommend a boat boy for bargaining with merchants and anchor watch, as the local merchants tend to take advantage of tourists. That being said, the towns can be tourist traps, so I steered clear after a couple of days.
Weather can be bad, so pick the right time of year, and be careful to avoid the strong currents when putting the hook down.
Diving is awesome, beautiful untouched reefs full of life – if you dive would highly recommend the Seychelles, but great even if not.

Poor customer service and safety
We chartered a Bavaria 34" yacht earlier this year through Queensland Yacht Charters in the Whitsundays. This was our honeymoon. We were sailing novices, so we took sailing lessons and did plenty of hours on the water, prior to the charter.
We arrived to 25-30 knot winds that presented some real challenges during our week. It was a true adventure in every sense of the word!
During our briefing, numerous safety related items were not covered by staff. Our half-day sail guide left us at a public day mooring, so he could make good time to catch his ferry back to the mainland. He showed little regard for our personal comfort or safety. Our first mooring left us exposed to the elements and we soon discovered, was not suitable for an overnight stay.
Fortunately, we managed to find some inlets that gave shelter during the strong winds and heavy seas. We decided to return to the Marina, prior to the end of charter, and spent the last couple of nights there. Our boat was dived and runabout used by QYC staff (without permission) prior to end of charter. This was ok as far as they were concerned.
We were charged twice for insurance and transfers. We provided transaction evidence and communicated with QYC, but they did not assist us to resolve the matter.
Our recommendation is simple: if safety and customer service are priorities to you and your crew, definitely chose another charter.
