Bad experience
Did not enjoy my experience with Footloose two years ago. The staff were not around when I arrived the morning of our trip and had to wait a considerable period at the marina for until they finally showed up.
Boat was generally old and showed it, not kept in good condition. The throttle handle was loose and after asking one of the staff people about it to no avail I had to tighten it myself. The galley stove had a missing knob and the gas was not filled properly. Had I not checked and had them refill it, would have been toast on day 2 of my trip.
Other than that, the trip was great, but will not use them again.

Awful service / boat not in best of shape
Staff is disorganized and just down right rude. Boat was not ready upon our late arrival had to fight well into after hours to get our provisions, parts of which were still missing. Six year old boat had various problems that left us without shower, GPS, intermittent starter switch. Upon our return the staff was incredibly rude and threatened me with my credit card number they had on file due to their own miscommunication as to whether or not the boat was clean. Awful - they just don't care, the service or lack of clearly shows it and the condition of the boat is just marginally better. Won't use Footloose and don't recommend them.

Professional, good value
I went with Footloose looking for a good deal in the BVI for my first charter outside of the States. Their boats are a little older, but taken care of. The manager is very professional and the staff made sure I was happy. Would do it again.

Happy trip
I was happy with Footloose and saved a good bit of money, we had a mechanical issue, however. The fridge on our boat broke and could not be fixed, so we went through the week using ice. We got a credit for another charter with Footloose or Moorings, which made up for the issue in my opinion.
Overall a good value for money and people were friendly. Older boats break down more often and you have to accept the tradeoffs.

Old boats, problems
Did one charter with footloose and will not do again. The boats are all at least 5 years old and have been in charter for that entire time. While cheap, we had all sorts of mechanical problems and overall it just felt old. Our dinghy was dirty, and even the dingy engine felt like it was on it last legs. We had problems with the electrical system, and had to spend a couple of hours just to get an annoying and malfunctioning bilge pump disconencted.
Considering the long flight and use of holiday time, not worth the price.

Bad experience
The boat I chartered was the Kia Ora, the problems started from day 1 no one knew where the 4th water tank was as I turned we keep refilled the smaller tanks thru out the trip and we had to shift tanks a few times, the hatches leaked when it rained. We informed them of the problems and nothing was down about it. When we went to the office no one was around. Once underway the battens from the main kept coming out and we repaired them ourselves and we told them and they said don’t worry they will be fixed when we get back as it turned we lost 2 of them on the last day. If we had waited for them it would have been a long wait based on the problem with the outboard motor for the dingy. It took them almost 6 hours to get to us after we called and we waited for them at the Baths and they arrived after 4 calls to them. The edge of the main ripped on our way back to home base we reported it. When I called Footloose to complain about the issue we told that nothing could be done for as we had not reported. If I knew this kind of care was coming I would have demanded a better boat before we left. All in all great sailing but never again with them they just plain stink as a charter co.
