Heavy sigh!!!!
The boat was in bad shape. There was a fresh water lead from the pump. The sail track was bent and had corrosion making it difficult to raise the main. The refrigeration did not work and our food went bad after 30 hrs on the boat. We terminated the charter early and sent 3 letters to the headquarters and got absolutely no response. The batteries did not hold enough of a charge to keep the the anchor light and 3 of the 4 fans on overnight.

Terrible!
The Boat looked good but I found several problems on preflight that were repaired. The water system was bad with low volume flow. Batteries were worn and , by my calculation, had about a 40 amp hour total capacity. The refrigeration did not keep food cold probably from damage to the system from low voltage. Lines and rigging although clean were frayed and sailtracks in poor condition. I, and my crew who were relative novices, decided the boat was not safe for the conditions and left early. I have tried multiple times to get in touch with the( 2 letters and 2 phone calls) Moorings office for a partial refund. They have never contacted me or returned a call. The boat did look good and was clean. The GPS had a big burn spot in the middle of the screen, annoying considering the high cost of the charter. I threw away $5500. Will I charter from anyone again? NFW!

Great Boat NOT!
Poor value. The refrigerator didn't work. Our food went bad in the freezer, the fresh water tank leaked and we ran out of fresh water. The rigging was substandard. The GPS screen a a 3 cm diameter burnt out spot in the middle of the screen. The anchorages often charged exorbitant fees. The reefs were beautiful. The Moorings has not responded to any of my letters of complaint. I sent by mail 3 and faxed one. 5K down the drain, I won't charter with any company again.

In response to Heavy Sigh!!! Review
In response to the following comments.
Belize as a destination Moorings destination continues to receive positive comments from our customers. We receive on a weekly basis, customer evaluations regarding their charter experience. The team in Belize receives frequent high praise for their customer service and ensuring our customers have an enjoyable vacation.

For Example:
-Charter guest on Moorings 4000 catamaran, 2008 states, “The guys at the dock were wonderfully kind and cheerful, great work ethic!”
–Charter guest on a Moorings 41.3 monohull, 2008 writes, “Your manager, Renee has done an exceptional job at surrounding herself with an extremely kind and accommodating staff.”

While we recognize problems can occur during a charter, the base is quick to react in responding to the customer’s needs. We acknowledge there was a water leak with this vessel; which was repaired within our 4-hour guarantee. Upon the customer’s contacting us again to say their water tanks were empty, we advised them to return to the base to fill up the tanks. (Water is limited out in the cruising grounds of Belize). Upon checking the water tanks, one was in fact completely full and the problem appeared to be an error in switching the tanks. Regarding the comments about the refrigeration, technicians checked the charging system and found the alternators were charging correctly, although the battery voltage was low. In talking with the customers, it became apparent that the engines were not running at the correct RPMs required to charge the system. This procedure is covered in our briefing process prior to departure. Regarding the comments concerning lack of response upon receiving their letter (July 28th), our customer service department called within 7 days of receiving their letter, and spoke with them directly. If any further information is needed on our destination in Belize, please contact our Vacation Planning department at (800)-535-7289.

Bad boat
In response to your response. Why did the Moorings not respond to my attempts to contact them. I am a businessman and when I have a complaint I respond to it. Your statement re my criticisms of the equipment are inaccurate and show a lack of theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical systems.
I have decided to let the lawyers handle it because I want this off my desk.
