Old boats, problems
Did one charter with footloose and will not do again. The boats are all at least 5 years old and have been in charter for that entire time. While cheap, we had all sorts of mechanical problems and overall it just felt old. Our dinghy was dirty, and even the dingy engine felt like it was on it last legs. We had problems with the electrical system, and had to spend a couple of hours just to get an annoying and malfunctioning bilge pump disconencted.

Considering the long flight and use of holiday time, not worth the price.

Not Recommended
The 4 of us signed up for one week of sailing instruction followed by a chartering the Cat. on our own for a week. The boat was filthy so we spent a full day cleaning it just to make it livable for the 2 weeks. The instructor was rude and unprofesional. When we were to take the cat over on our own for the 2nd week it had engine problems. Broken ancor cable which the captain said he had no time to fix so!
The first aid kit consisted of one bandage and an expired eye wash. No batteries in the flashlight, and adingy that lost air every day and a motor that would not start. The 4 of us travel a great deal and this by far was the worse travel experience we have ever had. We had the worse Christmas ever!! Do not book with this company!! Vacation from hell!!

Recommended charter
I have used Barecat Charters several times now. They have a wide variety of boats from fairly new (1-2 years) to older (7-10 years).

The outfit is small, and they pay attention to both boats and customers.

The location is easy to reach from the ferry dock, provisioning is easy at a nearby store and the pricing is good compared to the bigger players.

A good bet that you go back again too. That being said, if money is no object would go with a place with a newer fleet.

Great vacation
I have sailed in the BVI for over 12 years and have chartered from at least 5 different companies. While North South does not offer the newest boats, they are a great value for the money spent. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful. As a sailor I really do not care if I have air conditioning or lots of AC power. I go to the BVI to sail!
